Prof. R.K. Mishra was born in 1967 in India. He graduated with honours from the A.N.M.M.C of Gaya in 1991. In year 2000 he came to the UK and established his academic surgical career in Ninewells Hospital and Medical School with Professor Alfred Cuschieri in Scotland and the University of Dundee. He was in Department of Surgery and Molecular Oncology at Ninewells Hospital and Medical School in Dundee. He did his Masters degree in Minimal Access Surgery from University of Dundee. Currently, he is Director of Laparoscopy Hospital, New Delhi. Prof. Mishra is Professor and Head of Minimal Access Surgery and Surgical Technology at the TGO University in India and holds honorary professorship at several European and Asian Universities. Laparoscopic Courses directed by Prof. Mishra meet the guidelines established in the “SAGES Framework for Post-Residency Surgical Education and Training” and are endorsed by the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons (SAGES). Prof. Mishra has become respected throughout the world for his pioneering work in the development, execution and clinical evaluation of minimal access surgery. Dr. Mishra’s surgical technique has been adopted internationally for the management of a whole range of intra-abdominal pathologies. He is undoubtedly an international leader in his field and his pre-eminence is such that he has been President of the World Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons, Chairman of the Association of Academic Departments of Minimal Access Surgery in India.
